Welcome to the sixth edition of the HAPPY Project newsletter! We are excited to share the latest milestones and achievements as we continue fostering collaboration between higher education institutions across Europe and Bhutan.
In this edition, we celebrate the inauguration of the new Qualitative Research Methodology (QRM) Laboratory at Royal Thimphu College, Bhutan. This state-of-the-art lab is set to revolutionize qualitative research practices, providing a hub for innovative research and academic growth.
We also highlight compelling testimonials from individuals who have directly benefited from the HAPPY Project, showcasing the real-world impact of our initiatives. Additionally, we share success stories of QRM research proposals that have secured grants for further exploration and advancement in qualitative research methodologies.

We are really HAPPY to announce that our 5th Newsletter is out!
In our last newsletter we share the experience of Aaditya Pradhan and Rinchen Dorji, Bhutanese HAPPY members that have visited Amsterdam and Ljubljana to attend an advanced training in Qualitative Research Methods. They shared which of the methods they were trained in were the most valuable to them and how they can incorporate them in their future work, shared the challenges they encountered and so on.
Tshering Lhamo Dukpa also shared her experience of her journey to Europe. She shared her personal perspective about the trip, but also about the importance of Qualitative Data and Experiental Learning.

We are HAPPY to announce that a new issue of HAPPY Newsletter is out!
In this issue you can read about the experience that European partners had in Bhutan. In the first article you can read about focus group discussion that Dr. Lorraine Nencel from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Dr. Erik de Maaker from Universiteit Leiden conducted with the faculty of the Sherubtse College. The main aim of their discussion was to capture their views on how the university prepares students for the future and what role qualitative research can play within this journey.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ellen Bal from Vrije Universiteit and Gregor Cerinšek from Institute of Innovation and Development of the University of Ljubljana had a similar discussion with the students of the Sherubtse College. They talked about their study interests, motivations, and future prospects.
You can also read about the three-day workshop that was held at the College of Language and Culture Studies. The main aim was to critically review the existing curricula on Qualitative Research in Bhutan.

We are HAPPY to announce that 3rd issue of HAPPY Newsletter is out!
You can read about a virtual talk on “Inquiry of Knowledge in the Buddhist tradition” that was delivered for HAPPY team members by Dr Karma Phuntsho, a well-known Bhutanese scholar. In the article “QRM in research and teaching”, Dr Lorraine Nencel shares her view on the value of applying qualitative research methods in research and teaching. Last but not least, in “Behind the scenes of Training of Teachers (ToT) we share with you the summaries of mini-researches, conducted by participants of Training of Teachers.

We are HAPPY to announce that the second issue of our newsletter is out! In this issue you can read an interview with Dr. Phanchung, Director General of the Department of Research and External Relations under the Royal University of Bhutan, in which we focused on the past and current status of Qualitative Research Methodology and how educational institutio¸ns/bodies can help enhance it. Lungtaen Gyatso, President of College of Language and Cultural Studies explained the added value of investment in Qualitative Research Methodology for CLCS. Dolma Choden Roder, associate professor of anthropology presented her experience with doing research on research. Finally, you can read about the first Training of Teachers on Qualitative Research Methodology that was conducted in December 2021.
